Beale aircraft blows out tires at Mather

An aircraft from Beale Air Force Base blew out two tires Wednesday when it landed in Sacramento, but neither its pilots nor anyone else were injured in the incident.

At about 1:30 p.m., a T-38 Talon jet trainer piloted by two airmen from Beale was landing at Mather Airfield from a standard “touch-and-go” training mission when one tire blew out.

Because of the heavy crosswinds at the time pushing the Talon, a second tire blew out before it came to a stop.

According to a Beale press release, no one was hurt in the incident, which is under investigation. A Beale safety and maintenance crew went to Mather to investigate further, according to the release.
