Loma Rica man accused of raping minor
A Loma Rica man was jailed Wednesday, accused of raping a 16-year-old girl in January.
Trevor John Bensburg was booked into the Yuba County Jail on $100,000 bail on suspicion of rape and unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.
Bensburg, 21, raped the teenager on Jan. 10 in Loma Rica in the 5000 block of Fruitland Road, Yuba County sheriff's deputies said.
"The incident occurred at Bensburg's residence where Bensburg had sexual intercourse with the minor, despite her request to stop," Undersheriff Jerry Read said.
Read said the teenager did not report the assault to law enforcement, but told several of her friends who relayed the information to the girl's parents this week.
"When the parents heard about it, they contacted law enforcement," Read said.
The Sheriff's Department said Bensburg and the girl were "acquaintances" who have known each other for about two years.
Investigators picked up Bensburg around 4 p.m. Wednesday near Fruitland Road and Dry Creek Road and interviewed him at the Sheriff's Department in Marysville.
During the interview, Bensburg "made several admissions to investigators" about the incident and was taken into custody.
Bensburg was still in custody Thursday afternoon at the Yuba County Jail.
