Sutter deputies pull body from Feather River
A man's body was pulled from the Feather River by Sutter County Sheriff's Department on Friday night, authorities confirmed.
Yuba City Police Department received a call of a body floating near the dock at Feather River RV Park around 6:15 p.m. and supervised the scene until the Sheriff's Department could arrive because the river is under county jurisdiction. Just before 8 p.m., the body was pulled from the water.
"It appears to be an adult male, and the body appears to have been in the water for some time," said Sgt. Jon Duffy. "It's too early to determine other identifying factors such as age or race."
The department is working to determine the man's identity and cause of death. Anyone with information can call the department at 822-7307.
A crowd of residents at the RV park gathered at the top of the steep bank on Friday to watch the recovery take place, commenting on what a sad and gruesome situation it was.
"We're just lucky it didn't come floating down when the kids were fishing and swimming down there," one man said. "Woulda been a nightmare."
This is the third body to surface in the Feather River since April.
