Passengers complain of fumes on Transit bus

Yuba-Sutter Transit took one of its Marysville buses out of service today when two passengers complained of fumes after riding it, manager Keith Martin said.

A report that a third passenger was taken to Rideout Memorial Hospital from Yuba College after riding the bus could not be immediately confirmed. College Police Chief Chris Wilkinson was not immediately available for comment.

Martin said no ill passenger was taken off a bus and transported in an ambulance.

Yuba County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Melanie Oakes said an ambulance was dispatched to the college before 10 a.m. in response to a report that someone was having trouble breathing. Oakes said there was no immediate evidence the person had been a bus passenger.

The Route 4B bus, one of the company's new, bright green models, was undergoing a mechanical check this afternoon, Martin said.

If the report concerning Yuba College is accurate, the woman would have transferred from the Route 4B bus at the North Beale Road transfer station, Martin said.
