Learning the game
Some 30 local fast-pitch softball players learned to pitch, hit and field from coaches at Feather River College in Quincy on Monday during the first day of the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox youth softball camp at All-Seasons RV Stadium.
The two-day camp for girls aged 6 to 14 follows similar youth baseball camps held for boys earlier this season. Along with four days of daily instruction, participants receive a T-shirt and free admission to Gold Sox games this weekend.
The camp comes as the Gold Sox prepare for their final weekend of the 2009 season. The collegiate wood-bat league team plays the Morgan Hill Mudcats on Thursday and Friday, and the El Dorado Vipers on Saturday and Sunday.
