Week will be full of Christmas cheer

With Yuba-Sutter residents barely having finished those last scraps of Thanksgiving turkey, the Christmas holiday season gets under way full bore this week with parades, tree-lighting ceremonies, craft fairs, holiday exhibits and pageants.

Tree-lighting ceremonies will be held tonight in Live Oak, Tuesday in Yuba City and Friday in Wheatland and Marysville as part of evening community events.

The holiday-dominated week will culminate with the annual Christmas Stroll at 5 p.m. Friday on Plumas Street in downtown Yuba City and the Marysville Christmas Parade in downtown Marysville at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Monday

• Small Town Holiday Celebration — Live Oak, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Christmas tree lighting at 7 p.m., Broadway.

Tuesday

• Yuba City tree-lighting ceremony — 5:30 to 7 p.m., at Yuba City City Hall parking lot, 1201 Civic Center Boulevard. Sponsored by Yuba City Parks and Recreation Department.

Wednesday

• Christmas Craft Faire — 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Sutter-Yuba Mental Health Services, Valley Oak Room, 1965 Live Oak Blvd., Yuba City.
