1 arrested, 4 more cited in Marysville alcohol sting

One man was arrested and four others cited Thursday during an undercover alcohol sting in Marysville.

Marysville police teamed with the state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to conduct shoulder tap and minor decoy stings.

Song Soukseunchay, 52, of Sacramento, was stopped Thursday afternoon in the 1600 block of North Beale Road for furnishing alcohol to a minor, then arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, police Sgt. Chris Sachs said.

Jeffrey E. Brown, 43, of Marysville, was cited in the 100 block of East 12th Street. Daniel P. Garland, 55, and Robert Gomes, 38, both of Marysville, were cited in the 1200 block of East 22nd Street. Brian K. Sibley, 32, of Live Oak was cited in the 1600 block of North Beale Road.

The five citations for providing booze to minors was down significantly from January, when 20 people were cited during separate undercover stings.

Sachs said such operations have been conducted throughout the year, and said he hopes to continue the program.

Police are hopeful they will be able to renew the $18,000 grant and continue alcohol patrols through next year.

It is a misdemeanor to provide alcohol to anybody under age 21. Violators face stiff fines and possible jail time.
