Cooling center opening tonight in Yuba City

The City of Yuba City will have a cooling center open in the evenings beginning tonight for people seeking relief from 100-degree temperatures.

At 8 p.m., the Yuba City Senior Center at 777 Ainsley Ave. will be open for all people, particularly those with no air conditioning in their homes or who are especially sensitive to high temperatures. The center will close at 6 a.m., but reopen every night until the hot spell ends.

Cots, pillows and blankets will be available while the cooling center is open. During the day, city officials recommend people visit a library or Yuba Sutter Mall to stay cool.
