Campaign 2012: Sutter Buttes Tea Party hosting Logue next week

The Sutter Buttes Tea Party will host Assemblyman Dan Logue at its monthly meeting next week in Yuba City.

Logue, R-Loma Rica, who is on the ballot for both his Assembly seat and a state Senate special election in November, will discuss bills passed during the legislative session this year and his efforts toward business retention and expansion, and reducing regulatory burdens in the state.

Doors open for the Monday meeting at 6 p.m., with the meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. The meeting is scheduled at the Sutter-Yuba Association of Realtors, 1558 Starr Drive, Yuba City. Anyone is welcome to attend.

Gill snags several endorsements

Yuba City City Council candidate Kash Gill has received the endorsement of several past Yuba City mayors and Sutter County supervisors.

Among those endorsing Gill are past mayors Rory Ramirez, Leslie McBride, Ronald Southard and Sandra Hilliard. Current and former supervisors who are endorsing Gill include Jim Whiteaker, James Gallagher, Dennis Nelson and Larry Montna.

In all, several former mayors and current Mayor John Miller endorsed Gill, who is trying to return to the council after losing his seat two years ago.

Pfeffer, Benatar back Walsh

Rick Walsh, a first-time candidate for the Yuba City City Council, has received the endorsement from two former city and Sutter County officials.

Former Yuba City Mayor Tom Pfeffer confirmed he's endorsed Walsh this week, as has former county supervisor Joe Benatar.

Walsh is one of five candidates seeking two seats on the council.
