Briefs: Art gallery reopens on Saturday
Art-O-Culture, the gallery on D Street in Marysville formerly known as Gallery 34, will host a grand opening party 4 p.m.-8 p.m. Saturday in conjunction with the Marysville Christmas parade.
The reception at 419 D St. is free and open to the public.
The event will feature live music, and artists will be on hand to share information about their work.
Wheatland
Christmas Fair is Dec. 7
The annual lighting of the Wheatland Christmas tree is part of the city's Christmas Fair, set Dec. 7 on Front Street.
The street is closing at 5:30 p.m., with the tree lighting ceremony at 7 p.m.
The celebration features local businesses and civic groups, activities for children, Santa and free cookies and hot chocolate, sponsored by the Downtown Business Association and the Wheatland Lions Club.

Democrats to hold potluck
Democrats are invited to attend the Yuba-Sutter Democratic Club's Christmas potluck set in Yuba City.
The get-together is at 6 p.m. Dec. 15. Admission is free.
Money raised during a raffle at the event will go to the program Bridges to Housing.

Agency collects toy donations
Donations are being collected for Children's Hope Foster Family Agency through Kelsey's Kids Toy Drive at Dairy Queen in Yuba City.
The family agency serves local children.
New unwrapped gifts are needed for all ages, with a special need for teenagers and children ages infant to 2 years.
Donations can be dropped off until 3 p.m. Dec. 17 at 1375 Live Oak Blvd. in Yuba City.

Classic Ballroom dance is Jan. 12
Classic Ballroom of Marysville is hosting its "Black and White Dance" on Jan. 12, preceded by lessons in waltz.
The dance is from 8 p.m.-10:30 p.m., with the one-hour lesson at 7 p.m., at the Allyn Scott Youth and Community Center, 1830 B St., Marysville.
The cost is $5 for the dance and $5 for the lesson.
No dance is planned in December.

Donate food to needy families
Donations to help families in Live Oak during the holidays are being accepted Monday to Friday through Dec. 17 at Live Oak City Hall, 9955 Live Oak Blvd., and at businesses in the community.
Items will be given away on Dec. 19 during the Yuba-Sutter Gleaners Food Bank distribution at the Live Oak Community Building, 10200 O St.

Olivehurst
Man jailed was in stolen pickup
An Olivehurst man was arrested on Thursday with nearly two ounces of methamphetamine and a stolen vehicle, Marysville police said.
Larry D. Aebersold Jr., 38, was booked into the Yuba County Jail on suspicion of transporting a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for sale, possession of a controlled substance and receiving stolen property.
Officers spotted Aebersold in a black Chevrolet pickup at about 1:50 a.m. in the 1300 block of I Street.
A records check confirmed the truck was reported stolen out of Grass Valley, Sgt. Chris Sachs said.
Police found about 45 grams of suspected methamphetamine inside the truck, which Sachs called significant.
Aebersold posted a $20,000 bail bond and was released. He is due Jan. 8 for arraignment in Yuba County Superior Court.
Lincoln
Weather stops Highway 65 work
The approaching winter season has stopped construction work on Highway 65 at Lincoln in Placer County until the spring, the California Department of Transportation has announced.
The postponement means Lincoln Boulevard between Twelve Bridges and the Highway 65 overcrossing is closed to through traffic.
Marysville
Christmas event street closures
Tonight's Gold Rush Christmas on D Street in Marysville will close part of the downtown area to through traffic. Roads scheduled to close from 3 p.m.-10 p.m. are D Street between Third and Fifth streets and Fourth Street between Oak and High streets.
The event may be canceled because of rain.
