YC man injured in accident

A 28-year-old Yuba City man suffered major injuries in a two-vehicle accident at Highway 20 and Marysville Road.

William J. Sanderson, 28, was taken to Rideout Memorial Hospital after the accident shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday.

According to a California Highway Patrol report, Sanderson was driving west on Highway 20 in a 1989 Honda Civic when an eastbound pickup driven by William C. Frandrup, 58, of Browns Valley, turned left in front of him.

Sanderson had a possible left shoulder separation and numerous lacerations to his head, arms and legs. He had to be extracted from his car, the CHP said.

Frandrup complained of pain to his left arm and wrist but declined medical treatment.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

Yuba City

Police schedule sobriety check

Yuba City police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint from 6 to 11 p.m. today in the central part of the city as part of a three-county effort aimed at drunken driving during the holiday weekend.

Police in Marysville, Yuba City, Wheatland, Live Oak, Colusa and Williams will conduct saturation patrols today through Sunday. Sheriff's departments in the three counties will do the same in unincorporated areas, said Sgt. John Osbourn of the Marysville Police Department.

The California Highway Patrol will assign 80 percent of all available officers during the same period, Osbourn said.

In 2007, 34 percent of all drivers involved in crashes nationally during the Fourth of July weekend had a blood alcohol content over the legal limit of .08, he said.

Sutter County

Supervisors begin daytime meetings

The first of four daytime Board of Supervisors meetings will take place on Tuesday.

In a change from the usual evening starting time, the board will begin its meeting at 1 p.m. in the board chamber, 466 Second St. Other sessions will start in the afternoon on July 21, Aug. 4 and Aug 18.

Supervisors on May 26 approved the two-month experiment, which gives residents a rare chance to watch both the board and the Yuba City City Council in action on the same day. Council meetings begin at 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, the same time as board sessions.

Live Oak

Sheriff to hold town hall session

Sutter County Sheriff J. Paul Parker will hold a town hall meeting Thursday in Live Oak.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Live Oak Community Center, 10200 O St.

The meeting will include a PowerPoint presentation, a discussion of law enforcement needs in the community and a question and answer session.
