Yuba City Unified sets student trips

Members of Yuba City High School's debate team will travel to Santa Clara University for a state tournament April 17-21, one of several such school-related, chaperoned trips by students in the Yuba City Unified School District.

The high school debate team has participated nine times in national championships.

Three students at Yuba City High who are members of the Future Farmers of America will travel to the state FFA Convention in Fresno held April 19-22.

About 20 orchestra students at Yuba City High will visit the University of California, Berkeley, May 9-12. Fundraising paid for the trip, which will include seeing a San Francisco Giants game and visiting Alcatraz as well as Six Flags amusement park.

Seventeen students in the senior advanced placement literature class at River Valley High School in Yuba City will attend the Ashland, Ore., Shakespeare Festival, held April 18-20. Students are paying to attend the Shakespeare Festival, which began in 1935.
