News Briefs: Driver rear-ends construction truck in Yuba City
A man was lifeflighted to Sutter Roseville Medical Center early Saturday after crashing his sport utility vehicle into the back of a construction truck in Yuba City, police said.
Marco Zamora, 22, was traveling west on Highway 20 near George Washington Boulevard when he drove past a flagman waving a construction flag and rear-ended a construction truck at 3:39 a.m., said Yuba City police Sgt. Steve Thornton.
Details on Zamora's city of residence and injuries or additional information about the crash were not available.
None of the construction workers were injured.
Stretches of Highway 20 have been subject to nighttime lane closures in recent weeks from 8 p.m.-7 a.m. as part of a $5.3 million project to resurface 6 miles of Highway 20 from the 10th Street bridge to Township Road.
Dash for Diabetes scheduled Nov. 12
The Dash for Diabetes at the Yuba Sutter Mall will start in the food court and include awards, music and health screenings.
Slated Nov. 12, the event will start at 8:30 a.m., with registration beginning at 7:30 a.m. Health education classes are scheduled at 10 a.m.
Registration is $10 per person due by Nov. 7; or $15 on the day of the event.
Awards will go to the largest team, the best-dressed team and individual and for the team spirit. The mall is at the intersection of Highways 99 and 20 in Yuba City.

Tea party invites congressional candidates
An evening with Congressional District 3 candidates is being hosted by the Sutter Buttes Tea Party Patriots during the group's regular meeting in Yuba City.
The meeting is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Hans Miller building, 420 Miles Ave. Doors open at 6 p.m.
Candidates invited to participate include Tim Core, John Garamendi, Charlie Schaupp, Rick Tubbs and Kim Vann.

Live Oak Lions bingo event slated
Hamburgers, hot dogs and chili are part of the Turkey Bingo Night hosted by the Live Oak Lions Club.
The fundraiser is from 7-9 p.m. Nov. 17 at the Live Oak Community Building, N and Park streets, Live Oak. Doors open at 5 p.m. Fees are $12 for six cards and $1 for an extra three cards.
Prizes include turkeys and other items related to Thanksgiving.
