Butte County deputies bust identity theft ring
An apparent identity theft ring with possible ties to Yuba City was broken up late last week.
Butte County sheriff’s deputies arrested three Oroville residents Friday and confiscated numerous stolen checks, stolen identification cards and equipment capable of creating and altering checks was also found along with other stolen property and “items used to disguise an appearance,” sheriff’s deputies said.
John Troglin, 47, has been charged with 60 counts of identity theft-related offense, authorities said.
Troglin is accused of identity theft in Yuba City, Chico, Oroville, and Paradise.
Also arrested during the raid were Lynn Paschich, 45, and Robert Cumpston, 75.
The arrests were reported around 3:45 p.m. in the 1700 block of Oro Dam West.
All three were booked into the Butte County Jail.
