Briefs: Workshop will unveil North Beale Road plans

Linda residents may want to attend a public workshop Wednesday evening to present plans for North Beale Road through the unincorporated community.

Beginning at 4 p.m., Yuba County Public Works officials will present a plan for the road from Avondale Avenue to Griffith Avenue.Comments and feedback will be taken, and county officials will also discuss a timeline for such a project.

In previous plans discussed by officials, adding sidewalks and bike lanes was a feature, as well as traffic circles.

The workshop will be two hours and is at the Yuba County Government Center, 915 Eighth St., Marysville.

Highway 70 work to delay motorists in Marysville

Motorists traveling between Fifth and East 24th streets in Marysville can expect lane closures and delays as Caltrans work continues on Highway 70.

Delays of up to 20 minutes can be expected from 9 p.m.-6 a.m. through Friday.

Roadwork effecting traffic also includes:

Highway 99 in Sutter County, near Queens Avenue: Various north- and southbound lane closures are expected from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. through Thursday.

Highway 20 in Colusa County between Market Street, or the Highway 45 junction and Oak Street: One-way traffic controls are set from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. through Thursday.

Roadwork is under the direction of the California Department of Transportation, District 3.

'Cathedral' video lecture on Wednesday

The urban context of cathedrals, including Notre Dame in Paris, is the next topic in "The Cathedral" video lecture series looking at famous cathedrals in the world.

The program is at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lee Burrows Center for Arts, 630 E St., Marysville.

Admission is free.

The series continues at 2 p.m. Wednesdays through March 27. Upcoming topics include:

Feb. 27: Chartres Cathedral.

March 6: Amiens and Reims cathedrals.

March 13: Cathedrals — who builds?

March 20: Early Gothic architecture in England.

March 27: Gothic architecture in today's world.

Fundraising dinner set at Bethel AME Church

Diners have a choice of fried or smothered chicken at the fundraiser dinner sponsored by Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Marysville.

The meal is being served from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday at 115 Fifth St. A $10 donation is requested.
