Yuba County releases General Plan updates

Yuba County has released its General Plan update, and scheduled a pair of workshops for residents to ask questions and offer additional input.

The update is designed to be the county's guiding document for growth and development until 2030, pending final adoption and subsequent approval from the state.

Three main goals are given a spotlight in the update: community development, natural resources and public health and safety. County officials will take additional input and incorporate it into a final version of the update, which should be released by the end of the year.

The county mailed a brochure with plan update highlights to every mailing address in Yuba County, and copies of the plan are available for review at the county's planning and development office, or online at www.yubavision2030.org.

"This particular pamphlet is a really nice summary of the details in the General Plan update," county Planning Director Wendy Hartman said Tuesday, in introducing the update to county supervisors.

Supervisor John Nicoletti said some parts of crafting the update raised emotions among different county groups, but he believed it educated many people as well. "It got people thinking about their local communities," he said.

On Aug. 25 and Sept. 8, the county will host workshops on the update at the county government center, 915 Eighth St., Marysville. Both workshops are at 6 p.m.

The county wants to receive input by Sept. 13, Hartman said.
