Fiery Nebraska crash kills Yuba City truck driver

Man thrown from big-rig in Nebraska

A truck driver from Yuba City was killed Wednesday in a fiery crash in Nebraska.

Singh Atinderpal, 28, was thrown from his big-rig truck after it collided with the back of tractor-trailer and caused an explosion on the freeway, according to York County Sheriff Dale Radcliff, who witnessed the crash.

"We don't think alcohol was involved," Radcliff said Thursday.

Toxicology test results are pending as a matter of routine investigation, the sheriff said.

Atinderpal, of the 3600 block of Kim Way, was heading east around 4:30 p.m. on Interstate 80, about five miles west of the city of York, when he rear-ended the other vehicle, Radcliff said.

The driver of the other vehicle was treated and released from a hospital, but was not seriously injured, according to the sheriff.

Traffic was diverted for several hours, causing major delays for motorists, the York News Times reports.
