Deputy hits motorcyclist
Rescue crews airlifted an injured motorcyclist to a Roseville trauma center Monday after a collision with a Sutter County Sheriff's deputy patrol car at Oswald and Carlson roads.
The accident occurred just after 5 p.m. when the sheriff's cruiser collided with the dark blue Suzuki ridden by Mitch Monroe, 22, of Linda, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Monroe was airlifted to Sutter Roseville Medical Center with a possible broken leg and other injuries. He was wearing a helmet. His medical condition was not immediately available from the hospital.
The deputy, John Miller, 59, was shaken up but uninjured by the crash which occurred as he responded to a 911 call, said CHP Officer Jeff Larson.
According to the patrol, the crash occurred after Miller looked for traffic, didn't see any, and headed north through the intersection into the path of the westbound motorcycle.
The crash is under investigation.
A resident of a nearby home, Katrina Arguijo, 37, said Miller had stopped at the stop sign before his car collided with the motorcycle traveling on Oswald Road, which does not have a stop sign for east-west traffic.
