Bicyclist injured in Marysville crash dies from injuries

A man struck by a vehicle Tuesday while riding his bicycle outside the crosswalk on 10th Street died, Marysville police said Wednesday.

Kelly Mark Ballou, 51, of Marysville, died at Sutter Roseville Hospital, Sgt. Chris Sachs said.

Ballou suffered major head injuries after he was struck by a Scion at around 5 p.m. at 10th and G streets. The identity of the female driver was not released.

The driver pulled into the intersection after the light changed and struck Ballou.

The driver was not under influence of either drugs or alcohol.

Sachs said police have not ruled out the possibility the bicyclist was impaired. He said no criminal charges are expected.

"We are investigating this as a tragic accident," Sachs said.

A witness said the driver appeared shaken and immediately stopped her car to check on the victim.

Westbound 10th Street was closed at G Street for more than two hours while officers investigated.

Ballou was taken to Riverfront Park, where a medical helicopter flew him to Sutter Roseville.
