Nanny Jo Frost talks to one of the DeMello family's children during an April 17 episode of “Supernanny.” The production company for the show has filed permits to shoot in Plumas Lake for 10 days.

'Supernanny' set to descend on Plumas Lake?

Show will film at family's house next week

For a Yuba County family with some high-spirited kids, the Supernanny may be on her way to help lend a hand.

The production company behind the popular ABC reality show has applied with Yuba County for permits to shoot over 10 days beginning next week with a family in Plumas Lake.

An official with the production company, Shed Media, said contract details with the unidentified family for the show haven't been finalized and would not offer further details.

County officials said they'd gotten a request for permits and intent to notify neighbors on Fiddlenecks Street in Plumas Lake of film crews setting up shop on Tuesday to tape an episode of the series, which airs Fridays locally on KXTV-News10 in Sacramento.

The permit applications said the show will tape in the area through Halloween, on Oct. 31. Since the show sometimes features situations shot outside the home, crews may film in other spots in the region as well.

In the show's typical premise, harried parents contact producers and ask for the show's star, "Supernanny" Jo Frost, to come to their home and help them get their children's behavior under control.

Neighbors of the family to be featured on the show said the family's three children are lively, but not particularly ill behaved.

"I know the mother has her hands full," said Valerie DeViller, 45, who lives next door. She smiled as she recalled seeing the family's mother try to get the children ready for school in the morning.

"They're very high-energy kids, but they're cute as buttons," said DeViller, who's lived next door since the family moved in about nine months ago. "Bless her heart, she tries her best."

A woman who answered the door at the home today said because of a production contract with the show, she couldn't speak about the taping beforehand.

On the home's other side, neighbor Robert Malcolm said he wasn't bothered by the extra commotion that might come with a television production on his street.

"As long as I've got room to get out of my driveway, it's OK with me," said Malcolm, 60.

Like DeViller, he said his contacts with the couple's children have been positive. When he asked them to move their toys out of his yard, they did so promptly, he said.

Both he and DeViller said they've only caught the show a few times, but they'll both tune in if episodes featuring their neighbor air.

Details of when the episode would air were not available.
