Pleasant Grove raid yields drug charges, weapons

A raid early Wednesday in Sutter County ended with two people in custody on a variety of weapons and drugs charges.

Mark Farquhar and Erica Youngblood were booked into the Sutter County Jail after a search warrant was served around 8 a.m. at Farquhar's house in the 3400 block of Fifield Road in Pleasant Grove, the Sutter County Sheriff's Department confirmed.

Farquhar, 42, lives on Fifield Road, but was arrested at another location after investigators found him carrying a weapon, Capt. Lewis McElfresh said.

McElfresh said Farquhar is an ex-felon and prohibited from possessing any firearms.

Details of Farquhar's criminal history were not available Wednesday.

The Pleasant Grove man has only been charged in criminal case in Yuba and Sutter counties. A 2010 case was dismissed in Sutter County after a judge granted a motion to suppress evidence, authorities said.

Youngblood, 33, was also arrested, but specific charges and bail amounts were not available.

McElfresh said deputies found about four pounds of marijuana, smaller "usable" amounts of methamphetamine and numerous unspecified firearms.

The sheriff's captain said the investigation was the product of a combined effort with the US Postal Inspection Service.

Federal postal investigators were looking into unrelated federal allegations.

"During the investigation, we developed information that (Farquhar) was in possession of numerous firearms," McElfresh said.

Jeff Fitch, a US Postal inspector, confirmed federal officers were on scene Wednesday in Sutter County and also confirmed "an ongoing federal investigation," but declined to elaborate on details.
