100 years
The feminist vote will no doubt play a prominent part in the coming city election as 247 members of Marysville's fair sex have qualified as electors and will be entitled to cast their ballot along with the men.
50 years
Colors of a spring bouquet were selected in the frocks worn by members of the Yuba-Sutter and John Sutter Business and Professional Women's Club at the first spring fashion show in the Yuba-Sutter social scene.
25 years
Nearly seven years of squabbling between Sutter County and the state Controller's Office has ended with an agreement for final reimbursement of Juan Corona retrial costs to the county. Sutter County supervisors agreed to accept final payment of more than $187,000 from the state for Corona retrial costs — leaving the county holding the bag for $38,488 of the $4.7 million cost for the 1982 Corona trial.

Tamara Lewis and her family gathered in their yard and watched in awe as their historical home on Highway 99 and Messick Road was pulled back about 100 feet from the highway. The 4,500-square-foot home was built around 1886 on the site of John Sutter's Hock Farm. The work is part of an $18.5-million plan to widen Highway 99 from Lincoln to O'Banion roads into two lanes in either direction.

After spending more than $100 million on fixing levees in the south county, Three Rivers Levee Improvement Authority directors certified an environmental impact report that outlines an additional $188 million to fix the Feather River levee. The repairs will be designed to give residents 200-year flood protection, a level unmatched anywhere else in the valley, county officials say.
