Car repair shop to open in YC
Yuba City will get a new business and at least 10 more jobs next year when a Sacramento-area collision repair chain opens a shop.
Golden State Collision Centers Inc. has obtained a Yuba City building permit for a 19,000-square-foot building at 996 Klamath Lane that will house its fifth location.
When the Yuba City business opens next yea,r it will employ 10 to 13 people, said President Dave Finkelstein. Hourly wages start at $10 on up to $25 for experienced techs.
"We're pretty excited about moving into the area, bringing some jobs to the area," said Finkelstein.
He hopes to expand the business to 25 to 30 employees in the next two to three years.
Finkelstein picked Yuba City for his next location because of the potential demand.
"Market research indicates there's a demand for top-quality collision repair service," said Finkelstein.
Finkelstein opened his first collision repair center in 1993 in Sacramento after working his way up at a body shop. He expanded the business with shops in Orangevale, Roseville and Lincoln.
He said his business tries to spend more time analyzing the repair up-front and blueprinting the job.
"As we move through the repair process, it's a much more seamless process," said Finkelstein.
The collision center building is valued at $1.2 million, according to city records.
