Crash closes Highway 99 lanes for several hours

Traffic was shut down on Highway 113 for more than two hours Wednesday after a tow-truck rammed a semi-truck hauling 40,000 pounds of frozen food.

David Vargas of Lodi was hospitalized with a broken leg after it took firefighters about two hours to extricate him. A 12-year-old boy was also transported with neck and back pain, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Barinder Boyal, 49, of Yuba City, was the driver of the semi-truck. He was not hurt.

No arrests are expected to be made.

The crash was reported around 1 p.m. at Highway 113 and Highway 99.
