Accident causes traffic delays on Highway 70

Drivers on Highway 70 north of Marysville were delayed this morning after an accident near Boyer Road.

A semi-truck caught fire on the highway, closing down traffic completely for about 25 minutes.

At 3:22 a.m., fire crews responded to reports of flames shooting out of the flatbed attached to the big rig.

The reason for the fire is currently unknown, said Jodie Beck, public information officer for the California Highway Patrol.

Traffic was stopped between 4:17 a.m. and 4:40 a.m.

The California Department of Transporation said just before noon that the roadway was reopened.
