Marysville man among the crash victims identified

Authorities have identified the three people — including a Marysville man — who died Thursday in a pair of road accidents in Butte County.

Gary Nowlin, 71, of Marysville, was killed when his pickup ran off Highway 99 in Chico, a spokeswoman for the Butte County coroner's office said Friday.

In a separate accident, 44-year-old Anthony Kimble of Oroville and his passenger, 39-year-old Jessica Aills of Sacramento, died when their BMW sedan was struck by a pickup on a Bangor road. Initial reports incorrectly identified one of the fatal victims as being from Marysville.

The BMW was traveling west on La Porte Road when it veered into the eastbound lane past Loma Rica Road and was broadsided by a 2006 Ford F-150 at about 5:45 p.m., the CHP said. Neither occupant in the BMW was wearing a seat belt and both were thrown from the car.

The driver of the Ford, 41-year-old Robert Ussery of Marysville, was wearing his seatbelt and his air bag deployed in the accident. He suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Oroville Hospital, the CHP said.

Five hours earlier, Nowlin's 1987 Ford pickup was headed north on Highway 99 when it veered off the right shoulder, tumbled into an embankment and struck two trees. Nowlin died at the scene.

A passenger, 40-year-old Darryll Lehman of Marysville, was taken to Enloe Medical Center with a broken arm, the CHP said.
