A new path opens for Plumas Lake
One year after crews broke ground on the Plumas Lake Interchange at Highway 70 and Plumas Lake Boulevard, cars were allowed onto the $21.2 million project Tuesday afternoon.
The project, which is intended to improve highway operations and safety in Plumas Lake, officially opened to traffic at 1 p.m.
An official ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday with county and Caltrans officials. Residents of the planned community also held a neighborhood celebration and parade on the overpass on Saturday.
The interchange is expected to make access to the highway easier for nearly 3,000 homeowners as well as attract business to the development.
A Walgreens is already under construction just west of the interchange.
