Briefs: Night of Art set for March 16 in Plumas Lake

Wine, desserts, art and a live auction are featured in the first Night of Art presented by the Plumas Lake Education Foundation.

The fundraiser, for adults, is from 7 p.m.-9:30 p.m. March 16 at the Plumas Lake Golf Course clubhouse, 1551 Country Club Road.

Admission is $10 per person. Tickets will be available at the door or in advance at plumaslakeeducationfoundation.weebly.com.

Separate tickets will be sold for wine tasting, glasses of wine and dessert.

Money raised benefits the three schools in the Plumas Lake School District — Cobblestone and Rio Del Oro elementary schools and Riverside Middle School.

YUBA CITY

Garamendi on tap for fundraiser

Tickets are still available for the St. Patrick's Day fundraiser sponsored by the Feather River Democratic Club.

With featured speaker Congressman John Garamendi, the event is at 5 p.m. March 16 at the Plaza Room, 210 Julie Drive, in Yuba City.

Kate Scott, California deputy director, Region 2, of the Barack Obama campaign, is also a guest speaker.

The fundraiser includes a no-host wine and beer bar followed by a traditional corned beef and cabbage dinner.

Tickets are $25 each and can be purchased by contacting Joene Tranter at jtranter1463@comcast.net or call 822-0662. Tickets should be purchased by Saturday.

Tobacco cessation classes offered

The next session of Connecting to Quit tobacco cessation classes is scheduled by the Yuba County Tobacco Education program.

The free program includes six one-hour meetings at noon March 11, 13, 18, 20, 25 and 27 at the Yuba County Health and Human Services facility, 5730 Packard Ave., Suite 100, Linda.
