"That is disgusting if someone is disposing these limbs in areas such as this. They should be prosecuted. Is there a law against this?"
— wellillb
"...It is ghastly to think somebody is dumping parts into our rivers to save money. The police should follow this carefully. They could be dumbing needles, scalples and all kinds of waste. They need to track down who did this and put an immediate stop to it..."

The new RQ-4 Class B Global Hawk spy plane comes to Beale Air Force Base:
"I'm glad to see our local AFB still has purpose. Good job, guys."
— johnqpublic
"Aren't they still *ahem* working out the bugs with this thing? I mean the U-2 is still an incredible instrument, be it 60 years old."
— vonnegut
"So long as our countries enemies foreign or domestic have to go crawl back into a cave or under a rock then i am for a couple squadrons of these..."

Yuba City will be without a new-book store when B. Dalton in the Yuba-Sutter Mall closes in January:
"I find this to be a depressing revelation. Nothing like a book store. I am sorry to see what little we have in our community leave us. I can buy my books online, but there is nothing better than heading to a book store finding your source book and then picking up a few more reads on the clearance rack."
— hwytohell
"Hello, this is the 21st century! Get with the program Yuba Sutter. The malls will be empty with everything but clothing and shoe stores. You can get books and music online and much cheaper. It is time to embrace the new way of doing business and get onboard, otherwise the train will continue to leave the station."
— suttercares
"How sad. Not a big fan of the local B. Dalton, but I love book stores, so it's better than none at all. Yes, of course, I'm aware you can buy books, or anything else for that matter, online. But for some us, part of the joy of books is in browsing through a book store, picking up books, turning the pages, reading a line or two. You just can't replace that experience with a moniter and keyboard. I really hate what's happening to our community."
— gopar3
"I know book stores are becoming old-fashioned, but I still like going and looking around. I find books that i would have never found online. Yuba City is just a rest stop to other cities. They need to do something about it."
— birdy900
"An ad for Amazon Kindle at the bottom of this story..."

Yuba College trustees suggest staff takes a 3 percent pay cut to reduce the number of layoffs:
"A 3% cut will not stop all layoffs. Harrington will be begging for more and blaming the state. She, Alt, and the board will never admit they mismanaged millions of dollars. They will keep blaming the state and keep asking us all to pay to work for the district."
— georgette
"The teachers union will never agree to a pay cut. They protest everything but if the choice is a pay cut or let some people do without, they will kick the folks to the curb and blame administration."
— thinker
"Fairness is so subjective. Everyone should take a pay cut or nobody. 3% across the board. See how many jobs that ends up saving. Nobody should be punished more than another, no matter what rung of the ladder they are standing on. But, that's what our society does. Punish the one's who work hard, get ahead, and pacify the not so motivated and give them consolation prizes just for showing up. REALITY check people. If there is really corruption going on, complain to the grand jury and let them investigate. If you are waiting for the higher ups to investigate themselves you are just blowing hot air."
