Briefs: Missing Beale airman dies in wreck
A missing 41-year-old Beale airman was found dead Friday in Nevada County from head injuries suffered in a single-vehicle accident, a law enforcement official said.
Ayaz "Neil" Ali, stationed in Georgia and visiting Northern California, was reported missing Thursday after not being seen since Tuesday when he left Beale Air Force Base, said Nevada County Sheriff's Office Capt. Jeff Powell said.
Ali's Toyota Camry was found at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Wild Turkey Lane and Highway 20 by Caltrans workers, Powell said. Toxicology tests will determine whether drugs and alcohol were factors in the death.
YUBA COUNTY
No change in final election results
Final election results in Yuba County show unchanged outcomes from what returns on Election Day suggested.
Both Michael Selvidge and Jim Kitchen won seats on the Marysville City Council, and Ricky Samayoa unseated Bill Harris to become Marysville's next mayor, according to balloting completed Friday.
With 51.27 percent of the vote, challenger Anthony "Mr D" Dannible unseated longtime Marysville Joint Unified School District Trustee Margie Markle, with a margin of about 80 votes out of 3,277 cast.
Measure T, which would've put changes to the Yuba County General Plan related to agricultural land to a public vote, failed with 50.52 percent voting against. The "yes" vote, with 9,262 in favor, fell short by less than 200 votes.
MARYSVILLE
Ring levee repaving delayed
A section of the Marysville ring levee will not be repaved until spring, after wet weather delayed construction work this year, according to the US Army Corps of Engineers.
The section of levee, near East 24th Street, was scheduled to have aggregate compaction completed in fall before an asphalt layer was placed on top. Delays there meant repaving to top the levee is also delayed.
Work on that section of levee is part of a multiyear, multiphase project to bring the city's ring levee up to modern standards for flood protection.
