Donation fund set up for accident victim
An account is open for those wishing to donate money for the Olivehurst man who lost his leg last week in an accident on Marysville's E Street bridge..
Sierra Central Credit Union is accepting donations for David Lewis' medical expenses through account No. 295712, Lewis' friend, Carla Burnside of Olivehurst, said Monday. Checks for that account, which can be accepted at all branches, should be made out to Lewis.
A mechanic for Yuba City-based Sanchez Truck Repair & Towing, Lewis was struck by a passing car Wednesday after stopping on the southbound E Street bridge to assist a driver who had run out of gas. The accident severed his right leg above the knee, and he also faces extensive surgery on his broken left leg, according to Burnside.
Lewis, a 50-year-old father of two, has remained at Rideout Memorial Hospital since the accident.
