Colusa

Body found in Colusa ID'd

Colusa County sheriff-coroner officials identified the body pulled from a culvert at Butte Slough Road on Thursday night as that of Mike Waters.

"The positive ID was made, in part, by numerous tattoos and clothing description from his missing-person report," Sheriff's Lt. Miguel Villasenor said Friday.

Waters, 50, had been missing since Dec. 8. His brother, Kenny, 36, who had become increasingly distraught over this brother's death, died in his sleep on Jan. 13.

Villasenor said the cause of Mike Waters' death is still pending, as are toxicology tests sent to the state Department of Justice labs after Friday's autopsy. He said there are no obvious signs of foul play.

Linda

Pool cues used in melee

A fight involving eight to 10 people, pool cues and a post-hole digger sent a Linda man to the hospital, according to a Yuba County Sheriff's Department report.

Deputies responded at about 11:30 p.m. Thursday to a report that people were fighting with sticks on Sartori Avenue in Linda. The "sticks" turned out to be pool cues, said department spokeswoman Melanie Oakes.

David DeWayne Lambert, 42, Marysville, was identified by witnesses and arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon — the post-hole digger, said Oakes.

The victim, Heath Burdick, 34, was treated at Rideout Memorial Hospital for injuries described as nonlife-threatening.

The fight was apparently between an estranged boyfriend and girlfriend and their supporters, she said.

Marysville

Endangerment charged

An alleged gang member arrested Thursday in Marysville is charged with child endangerment, based on officers finding a loaded handgun within reach of his children, Yuba County District Attorney Pat McGrath said Friday.

Yuba-Sutter Gang Task Force officers had also arrested Jer Kue, of the 1400 block of Sicard Street, on suspicion of participation in a criminal street gang. Kue is a member of the Hmong Nation Society gang, said Mike Hudson, commander of the Yuba-Sutter Narcotic Enforcement Team.

The raid at Kue's home was based on reports of guns being brandished from the black Hummer he drives, Hudson said.

Kue was booked into the Yuba County Jail but was no longer being held Friday, according to the Sheriff's Department Web site.
