Gunshots fired at parked vehicle in Live Oak

Multiple gunshots were fired late Wednesday at a parked vehicle on Highway 99 in Live Oak in a possible drive-by shooting, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Department reported.

No injuries were reported.

Deputies were called around 10:30 p.m. to the 10300 block of Highway 99.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Brenda Baker said bullets ricocheted off the parked vehicle and struck the outer wall of a nearby apartment complex. It was not clear if anybody was inside the targeted vehicle.

Witnesses told investigators a suspicious vehicle, possibly a red Nissan pickup truck, was seen driving away south on Highway 99 from Myrtle Street.

A truck matching the description was stopped a short time later, but the driver was released after a brief interview, Baker said.
