Logue ready for fall race
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Yuba Supervisor to face Harrington for Assembly seat in November
It's one down and one to go for Dan Logue.
The Yuba County supervisor on Tuesday defeated Nevada County Supervisor Sue Horne to earn the Republican nomination for the 3rd District State Assembly seat. Logue captured 54.4 percent of the votes cast.
Logue, 57, will face Democrat Michael "Mickey" Harrington in November. If elected, Logue would be the first Yuba County resident to represent the 3rd District in Sacramento.
Harrington, 68, ran unopposed in Tuesday's election.
"It was a very intense race, but this is a highly Republican district so it was important to win the primary," Logue said Wednesday. "I'm confident we'll do well. Richard Keene ran against the same gentleman two years ago and won 60-40. It's looking good.
"I'm honored I'm supported and people want me to be the strong voice for this district."
Rick Keene, R-Chico, was unable to seek re-election because of term limits. He endorsed Logue in his campaign against Horne
Logue said his main focus in Sacramento would be to bring jobs and business opportunity to California.
Results are unofficial until an election canvass is approved July 1.
District 3 includes all of Lassen, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sierra and Yuba counties and most of Butte County.
Logue won the majority of votes in six of the district's seven counties. Horne won a majority in her hometown Nevada County.
If Logue defeats Harrington, a Butte County resident, the governor's office will appoint a replacement to the Yuba County Board of Supervisors, according to an election official.
Logue, a Realtor, was first elected to the Yuba County Board of Supervisors in 2002 and re-elected in 2006.
