Briefs: Forbestown manslaughter suspect turns self in
A Forbestown man wanted on a manslaughter charge turned himself in Saturday afternoon and was booked into the Yuba County Jail.
Haley M. Wike was booked around 3 p.m. on $100,000 bail.
Wike, 27, is charged with involuntary manslaughter and assault — both felonies — in connection with the death in September of Louis Pacini of Stockton. The Yuba County District Attorney's Office filed charges Thursday.
Prosecutors said Wike punched Pacini in the face Sept. 15 at the Willow Glen Cafe in Oregon House after Pacini made a derogatory remark toward Wike. Pacini was knocked to the ground and struck his head, authorities said.
Investigators said Pacini did not throw any punches.
Pacini was in a coma and suffered significant brain swelling before he died from blunt-force trauma 10 days later at Rideout Regional Medical Center in Marysville, according to the Coroner's Office.

Family and friends will be washing cars beginning at 11 a.m. at the 76 station at Colusa Avenue and Plumas Street in Yuba City. Organizers said they'll be on hand most of the day.
