Farmers' Market contest winners will take home a large pumpkin
Do you want to win the Great Pumpkin?
You could have a chance to win a large one, anyway, through the Glenn County Certified Farmer's Market.
There are two constests being sponsored by the market this month.
One is a coloring contest for children 10 or under. The other is a pumpkin weighing contest for youngsters 11 or older.
The younger set may visit the Farmers' Market manager's booth in either Willows or Orland or their favorite vendor to pick up a coloring sheet, officials said.
You may color your way to winning a pumpkin, according to Kandi Manhart, executive director of the Glenn County Resource Conservation District.
The Willows market drawing is Oct. 24 and the Orland one is Oct. 27.
Entries must be submitted to the market manager by 5 p.m. the night of the drawing in Willows and 10 a.m. on Oct. 27 in Orland.
Age categories are 0-5 and 6-10 to complete the best colored Glenn County Certified Farmers Market logo.
Winners must be present to claim their pumpkin, Manhart said.
Entries for the pumpkin weighing contest will be taken at the market manager's booth at both markets.
The winner will be announced at the Willows market at 5 p.m. on Halloween.
A big pumpkin was donated by Plants by Mel of Elk Creek.
Winners must be present to claim their prize.
Market customers who participate in the Vendor Dash promotion also will be entered for a chance to win a basket full of local products at the end of the month.
They must shop four different vendors, Manhart said, but it does not have to be in the same day.
Get your Vendor Dash card at the next Farmer's Market you attend. They are available at the manager's booth or vendor booths.
Willows Farmers Market is on Wednesdays, 4-7 p.m., at North Butte and Sycamore streets. The last market is Oct. 31.
Orland Farmers Market is on Saturdays, 9 a.m.-12 p.m., in Library Park, Fourth and Mill streets. The last market is Oct. 27.
