Political Briefs: McClintock endorses Logue for Senate
Assemblyman Dan Logue has picked up the endorsement of a prominent California GOP congressman in his bid for the 4th State Senate District.
Logue, R-Loma Rica, has been endorsed by US Rep. Tom McClintock, R-Granite Bay, who represents some of the eastern portions of the Senate district along the Nevada border. McClintock, a former state legislator, is known as among the most conservative members of the state's House delegation.
"In the Assembly, Dan fought the big-spending liberals and opposed every scheme to raise our taxes while working to cut the deficit," McClintock said in a press release from Logue's campaign.
Though Logue makes reference to serving with McClintock in the Legislature, he did not. McClintock was elected to Congress as a termed-out state senator in 2008, the same year Logue won his first Assembly term.
Farm Bureau endorses Gill
The Yuba-Sutter Farm Bureau board of directors has voted to endorse Kash Gill in the Yuba City City Council race.
Gill, who farms outside Yuba City and was on the council until losing a re-election bid in 2010, got the endorsement because of his farming experience and familiarity with the area in his role as a member of the California Prune Bargaining Association and the California Canning Peach Association, according to a release from the farm bureau.
"His common-sense approach to decision making will positively impact our region," bureau President Jon Munger said in the release.
