Briefs: LaMalfa will speak at tea party
US Rep. Doug LaMalfa is scheduled to speak at the Corning Tea Party Patriots meeting on Thursday.
The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the Corning Senior Center, 1015 Fourth St.
LaMalfa, R-Richvale, was elected to the 1st District in November.
Police and Fire Dinner planned
The Corning Exchange Club will hold its annual Police and Fire Dinner at the Corning Veterans Memorial Hall, starting at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.
They will be honoring the outstanding police and fire officers of 2012.
Church holds bake sale
The Foursquare Church will hold a bake sale from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, 404 FIfth St.
Proceeds will go to purchase a computer for the church.
Electronic waste accepted
The Tehama County Sanitary Landfill Agency is conducting a free electronic waste collection event from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
The events will be held at the Park and Ride commuter parking lot at the northeast corner of Third and Solano streets in Corning, and at the Tehama County Department of Social Services at 310 S. Main St.
Televisions, computer monitors and equipment, microwaves, DVD/VCR players, cellphones, and other small electronic waste will be accepted. There is no quantity limit.
Corvette Club plans meeting
Americana Corvette Club is holding a meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday at Logan's Roadhouse in Chico.

Livestock meeting on Friday
An education program related to the health and management of beef cattle and pasture will be held from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Friday at the Old 99 Steakhouse in Willows, 610 S. Tehama St., Willows.
The even is free but pre-registration is required, 527-3101.
The guest speaker is David Patterson from the University of Missouri, who will speak on selection and development of replacement heifers. Other topics discussed include bull performance, de-worming, and alternative feeds for cattle. Irrigated pasture irrigation efficiency and fertility will also be discussed.
The meeting is sponsored by the Glenn, Colusa, and Tehama County Cooperative Extensions, the Cattlemen's Association in Glenn-Colusa, and Tehama counties, Genex and Merial and Boehringer Ingelheim.
Lunch will be provided.
Animal health meeting Friday
A winter animal health meeting is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Friday at the Shasta Livestock Auction Yard, 3917 Main Street, Cottonwood.
Spring indoor yard sale set
The Corning Veterans Memorial Hall will be having an indoor yard sale from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 1-2.
Renting a table is $7.
