Olivehurst thief must pay for motorcycle damage
An Olivehurst man who stole a rare motorcycle and damaged the vehicle was sentenced on Monday to a year in jail and will have to pay $2,700 in restitution for damages — as well as $1,962 for damaging a vending machine in a separate theft.
Charles William Tribon Jr., 27, went to a home on Janet Avenue in Olivehurst and removed a custom, off-road Maico motorcycle along with a Honda cycle, according to the probation report. He damaged both; the restitution covers repairs for the two motorcycles.
In a separate incident, Tribon and a second man took $25 from a Glacier Water Co. vending machine on North Beale Road in Linda. The $1,962 in restitution is for damages to the machine.
Tribon said he had asked the second man for $20 owed to him and that the man told him he had gotten $40 by breaking into the vending machine a week earlier, probation said. The man asked Tribon to serve as a lookout.
A witness saw the vending machine break-in and called law enforcement.
