Briefs: Meeting to discuss new retail in Marysville
The worthiness of building new retail in Marysville is the topic of the next Yuba County Alliance for Development meeting, Wednesday morning at the Yuba County Government Center.
Mark Norton, of Main & Main Investments, will speak at the meeting. Main & Main developed the new Washington Square project, with CVS Pharmacy, Panda Express and other stores.
In addition to Norton, Yuba County Supervisor John Nicoletti will have a state of Yuba County update. The meeting includes a social media contest and breakfast treats, and is at 8:30 a.m. in the Government Center's Marysville Room, 915 Eighth St., Marysville.

Water flushing program continues
The southern portion of Marysville is this week's site of the continuing water flushing program by the California Water Service Co.
Crews are working 7 a.m.-4 p.m. daily through Thursday in the area generally bounded by First, Ninth, Yuba and E streets.
The work is part of a two-month flushing program to improve water system circulation and enhance quality, Cal Water District Manager Lee Seidel said in a statement.

Register for reading program
Registration begins Saturday for the One World, Many Stories summer reading program at the Yuba County Library, 303 Second St., Marysville.
Open to all ages, the program will have readers explore the globe through a variety of activities including stories, crafts, music and dance.
All programs are free of charge.

Paper workshop set Saturday
In the Garden, a free paperwork workshop for all ages, is set Saturday at the Yuba County Library's Community Room, 303 Second St., Marysville.
Those attending the workshop, planned 1-3 p.m., can make various items including bookmarks, greeting cards and post cards.
The workshop's theme is to draw attention to the community garden being created across from the library's parking lot. The event is sponsored by the Friends of the Packard Library of Yuba County.
