Live Oak
Knifing victims identified
Two stabbing victims at a Live Oak gas station were identified Tuesday as Anthony Mendoza, 19, and a 17-year-old juvenile, both of Live Oak, according to a Sutter County Sheriff's Department official.
The incident at the Super Power Mart on Highway 99 at Pennington Road was reported at 7:40 p.m. Monday.
Mendoza and the juvenile were taken to Rideout Memorial Hospital in Marysville with abdominal wounds that department spokesman Brenda Baker called serious, but not life threatening.
Mendoza and the juvenile fought with 18-year-old William Silva, also of Live Oak. It was not clear if the fight was gang-related, Baker said.
Silva was also injured during the fight and was treated at the hospital, then released.
No one had been arrested Tuesday morning, Baker said.
Yuba City
Cash stolen from Gaiser Pets
More than $9,500 was taken in a burglary at Gaiser Pets, 714 Plumas St., Yuba City police said Tuesday.
The crime was reported at 8:30 a.m. Monday.
The burglar entered the store through a skylight and climbed down to the floor level. Nothing besides the cash was taken, said police spokeswoman Shawna Pavey.
Pavey declined to say if the cash was obtained by breaking into a cash register.
No other sign of forced entry — or exit — was found, she said.
Yuba-Sutter
Electronic medical records class
Those interested in issues around converting medical information to an electronic format can attend a meeting Saturday.
The Yuba-Sutter Healthcare Council will host a meeting at 8:30 a.m. at the Fremont-Rideout Conference Center, 989 Plumas St., Yuba City, with a speaker from Mendocino County, which adopted health-information technology for its medical programs several years ago.
Reservations are due by 5 p.m. today. Call 755-3507.
The meeting will go until 1 p.m. and includes lunch.
A pot of $40 billion in federal stimulus money is available to local governments to adopt similar technology to allow doctors, hospitals and other health-care providers share patient information electronically, through what's known as a health information exchange.
