Yuba City police officer, suspect injured in struggle
A Yuba City police officer and a suspect were injured Saturday night during a struggle on Dorman Avenue, according to police.
The officer, whose name was not released, was responding to a theft call on Woodbridge Avenue at about 9 p.m.
The suspect fled, and the officer ran after him to Dorman and Central avenues.
A struggle ensued in the 300 block of Dorman.
The officer suffered cuts to his arms and legs. The suspect, also unidentified, sustained a cut to his head.
Both the suspect and the officer were taken to Rideout Regional Medical Center to be checked out.
Yuba City police Sgt. Lincoln Eden said the suspect would probably face resisting-arrest charges and possibly an assault charge.
The officer did not draw his gun and never lost control of the weapon, Eden said. No shots were fired.
