Manhunt suspects identified
Comments 0 | Recommend 0The two men who were arrested Saturday night after leading California Highway Patrol and other area law enforcement officers on a chase and massive manhunt in Linda have been identified.
Abel Uriquiza Arellano, 25, and Eduardo Hernandez Vasquez, 21, both of Lincoln, were stopped by a CHP officer who believed the GMC truck they were driving was stolen.
The men failed to listen to the officer's commands, according to CHP, and when the truck was shifted into reverse, the officer, who was not indentified, discharged several rounds from his weapon.
The men fled, crashing through a fence on the Griffith Avenue property where they'd stopped. The vehicle eventually ended up in a ditch.
Both men fled on foot and were eventually captured with the help of a K-9 unit. Vasquez sustained bites from the dog when he failed to surrender from his hiding place in an orchard. Vasquez was treated for his injuries.
Both men, believed to be undocumented aliens, according to CHP, were booked into Yuba County Jail.
Arellano is being held on suspicion of assaulting a peace officer, evading a peace officer, receiving stolen property and taking a vehicle without prior consent. His bail is set at $50,000.
Vasquez is being held on suspicion of unlawfully taking a vehicle and receiving stolen property. His bail is set at $25,000.
