Amnesty for parking tickets
If you've got an outstanding traffic ticket, it'll be an easy new year's resolution to keep to pay it off.
For any unpaid ticket issued before Jan. 1, 2009, the state will offer 50-percent amnesty to have it resolved in 2012. To be eligible, any payments toward the ticket must have been applied before 2009, the ticket was unresolved either by fine or court appearance, the ticket holder doesn't owe restitution to someone else in the county where the ticket was issued, and the ticket holder doesn't have any outstanding misdemeanor or felony warrants in the county where the ticket was issued.
Other county-specific provisions may apply. The amnesty also doesn't apply to parking tickets, reckless driving cases or driving-under-the-influence cases. The program runs through June 30 and was enacted by a state law passed this year.
