Foul play not ruled out in Yuba County suspicious death
Foul play has not been ruled out in the investigation to identify the body found early Monday along Union Pacific Railroad tracks outside Plumas Lake, the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department reported Tuesday.
Sheriff Steve Durfor said an autopsy scheduled for Wednesday is expected to determine the cause of death.
The body of a white male adult was discovered around 7 a.m. by railroad employees.
Investigators said there was evidence of head trauma, but did not elaborate.
Found in an empty field between the railroad tracks and a levee east of Plumas Lake, the body appeared to have been at the isolated location less than 24 hours, authorities said.
The deceased is described as a white male adult, approximately 25-35 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches tall to 6 feet 1 inches tall, weighing about 160 to 175 pounds with short, curly brown hair.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department at 749-7777.
