Briefs: Flag retirement ceremony Friday in Yuba City
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2563 of Yuba City will be hosting a flag retirement ceremony at 4 p.m. Friday at the Museum of Forgotten Warriors, 5865 A Road, Linda.
Post Commander Richard Lawson will be the speaker at the event which will commemorate the closing of Post 2563 that has been open since 1932.
An honor guard will present the flags of VFW Post 2563 and the Ladies' Auxiliary to the Museum of Forgotten Warriors, which will keep the flags for display. For more information, call Dan Spear at 742-3090.

Discovery Shop seeks donations
People wanting to get rid of old jewelry can help out the community while clearing space by donating items to the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop in Yuba City.
The store is gearing up for its "Gems and Minerals" fundraiser sale planned early next year.
Brooches, bracelets, necklaces and earrings can be dropped off at the store, 1270 Stabler Lane, Suite 310. Donations are tax deductible.
The store is open from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday to Saturday.

WHEATLAND
Legion offering information, help
The American Legion will set up shop in Wheatland for three days this week to share information and give veterans some help with various issues.
Beginning Thursday, representatives from the group on a national, state and local level will be at the post hall to talk about American Legion and how to join. On Friday and Saturday, a service officer will be on hand from noon-4 p.m. to answer questions about claims or other veterans' issues.
The event is part of a push by American Legion locally to refocus on community service.
Hours are from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Thursday and Friday and from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. on Saturday. The service session is at the Bear River American Legion Post 789/Pioneer Memorial Hall, Fourth and B streets, Wheatland.
