Benefactors sought to make holidays better for families

Individuals or groups are sought to bring Christmas to those in need by "adopting" local families for the holidays through the FIT Foundation's Adopt-a-Family Christmas Program.

County agencies, departments and schools refer the beneficiary families to the program.

The program matches donors and families anonymously, with the givers receiving information about the family's needs and wishes.

To "adopt" a family, contact the program's coordinators at 790-7554 or coordinators@FITAdopt-a-Family.org.

In addition, the FIT Foundation is accepting donations of unwrapped new toys and nonperishable food at several locations in Yuba City including the First United Methodist Church, 3101 Colusa Highway, and Shaw and Associates, 950 Tharp Road.

Monetary donations, with checks made out to the FIT Foundation, can be mailed to P.O. Box 544, Yuba City, CA 95992.

The program is in its 11th year.
