Second suspect sought in Live Oak kidnapping

Investigators on Thursday released a photo of a second suspect wanted in connection with last week's beating and kidnapping of a Live Oak teenager.

Sutter County sheriff's deputies are looking for 29-year-old Rachel Veronica Raygoza, a suspect in the Sept. 27 alleged imprisonment and torture of a 17-year-old girl, sheriff's spokeswoman Brenda Baker said.

Investigators last week arrested Javier Alexander Ramos, the 19-year-old ex-boyfriend of the alleged victim. The nature of Raygoza's connection with Ramos remains unclear.

"We know they're acquainted, but their relationship is not known," Baker said.

Deputies said the teenager met Ramos on Sept. 27 in the 9700 block of Broadway in Live Oak to retrieve some personal items after their romantic relationship ended.

Ramos forced the girl into the backseat of his vehicle, deputies said. Raygoza was already inside the vehicle and punched the teenager several times, and Ramos drove away, authorities said.

Deputies said the girl was taken to a shed behind a home in the 2600 block of Nevada Street, and her hands were bound with packing tape. Raygoza continued to beat the girl, authorities said.

After more than two hours, the girl managed to escape when she was left unattended in a bathroom and climbed out a window, authorities said. Ramos was arrested a few hours later.

Ramos pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Sutter County Superior Court to charges of kidnapping, inflicting corporal injury, mayhem, false imprisonment and making criminal threats. He was still in custody Thursday with bail set at $250,000.

Ramos is due back in court Oct. 31 for a hearing.

A Live Oak resident, Raygoza is Hispanic, about 5 feet 1 inch tall, weighs about 125 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes with a tattoo on her neck.
