UPDATE: Body of missing girl possibly found

A body was found behind Red Bluff High School today around 11 a.m., as law enforcement searched for a missing 14-year-old Red Bluff girl.

Red Bluff Police Sgt. Michael Graham reported the body could be that of Marysa Nichols, who was reported missing by her mother at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The body was located in field behind the high school near Baker Road.

Nichols' family has been notified of the discovery.

When Nichols' mother, Diane Whitmire, dropped the girl off at the high school's Education Outreach Academy about 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, Nichols said she would be home around 2:30 p.m., but she never made it home.

Red Bluff Police Department has established a tip-line regarding the case, and anyone with information is asked to call 737-3160 or 737-3225.
