Free roller skating at Allyn Scott center after school
The Allyn Scott Youth & Community Center is offering free roller and inline skating to students on Wednesday's as part of their after school program. Mark Hubble, a national roller skating champion and substitute teacher, leads the weekly activity.
"We've been doing this for about a year now," said Martha Duran, site manager and after school program coordinator for the center. The center received about 200 roller and inline skates thanks to a donation from Beale Air Force Base.
The after school program, which is open weekdays from 3 p.m.-6 p.m., provides nachos and lemonade to students. The center, which was originally used as a roller skating rink in the 1970s, averages 17 students per week for skating.
